Agreeing to receive text messages from Universal Medical Group is OPTIONAL. It is NOT a condition of receiving healthcare services. You can decline SMS and we will contact you by phone or email instead.
Where you can opt in
- Online booking (umg.clearmindehr.ai/book) — on the final Confirm step of the appointment-request form, an unchecked-by-default checkbox titled "Text message reminders (optional)" appears above the Submit button. The booking is submitted whether or not you check it.
- Patient portal registration (umg.clearmindehr.ai/portal/register) — during account creation, an FCC/TCPA Electronic Communications Consent block discloses all communication channels and lets you decline SMS specifically without blocking registration.
- Front-desk phone call — if you call our main line and speak to staff, they ask explicit verbal consent before sending any SMS ("Is it okay if I text you a registration link?"). The consent decision is recorded.
- In-clinic paper / tablet intake — new-patient intake packets include the same disclosure and a signed consent line. Declining still completes intake.
What messages we send
If you opt in, you will receive transactional, care-related messages only:
- Appointment confirmations and reminders (typically 24 hours and 2 hours before your visit)
- Pre-visit instructions (telehealth join links, intake reminders)
- Registration / portal access links
- Two-factor authentication codes during portal login
- Notifications when lab results are available in your portal (results themselves are NOT sent via SMS)
- Prescription ready / refill notifications
We do not send marketing content, promotions, or any content unrelated to your care relationship with Universal Medical Group. Message frequency varies based on your appointment and care activity.
Message and data rates
Standard message and data rates may apply per your wireless carrier's terms. You are responsible for any charges from your carrier. Universal Medical Group does not charge for the messages themselves.
How to opt out
Self-service unsubscribe: Visit unimedicalgroup.com/sms-unsubscribe to remove your phone number from our SMS list. Takes effect immediately. No login required.
Or reply STOP via SMS: Reply STOP to any text message you receive from us. You will be unsubscribed immediately. We will not text you again unless you re-enroll through one of the opt-in surfaces above.
Opting out of SMS does NOT affect your ability to receive care or other forms of communication (email, phone, portal messages).
How to get help
Reply HELP to any text message and you will receive a response with our main contact information. You can also reach us directly through the contact details below.
Privacy and HIPAA
SMS messages are sent through Twilio, Inc., our HIPAA-compliant Business Associate. SMS is an inherently less-secure channel than the patient portal; we limit SMS content to non-PHI-rich messages (reminders, links, codes). Clinical content (test results, diagnoses) is delivered through our secure patient portal at umg.clearmindehr.ai/portal/login.
